Current Assignments
1) We are currently studying Fictional Narratives.
Narrative Writing tells a personal or fictional experience or tells a story based on a real or imagined event. Fictional Narratives tell a story that could be true (no fantasy) but is not. Students will be publishing at least two fictional narratives during the upcoming weeks.
2) Students will each be completing another book report. They may choose to report on a book they have read at home or in school. Once completed, they will share their report with the class. They will also be asked to tell their classmates whether they recommend the book or not, and explain why they feel that way.
3) We are still working on our Science Unit of Sound. Our next few lessons deal with how tension affects pitch, how different string materials make different sounds, and learning about vocal cords.
Current Schedules and Events
Please review your Family Flyer for upcoming special school events or speakers.
Upcoming Field Trips
Books We Are Reading
For our classroom read-aloud, we are currently reading Sideways Stories from Wayside School.
What's New in the Homeroom
For Spanish, we are currently learning about food. We have been learning how to use the phrases me gusta and no me gusta to tell about things we like. Our next unit will be using the verb tener to talk about things we have. Additionally we are each working on a Spanish "me" book that tells detailed information about us.
In Social Studies, we have completed our unit on Continents and the World, and have learned and practiced map skills. We will be learning about our own state, RI, next. After we will learn about each of the other 49 states. During that time, each student will be working on his/her own state report.
